"Write drunk; edit sober" -Ernest Hemingway I've never actually attempted this, but tonight I am. I've had my wine and if you know me at all it doesn't take much to get my lightheaded & giggly. I'm truly not a Windau (my maiden name) when it comes to my alcohol consumption. I put my catholic roots to shame. I'm ok with that. I'm not a mean drunk, but a purely giggly & say inappropriate thing drunk. Today stung. It stung hard. Last Tuesday we got a call for a little 5 month old baby. Technically we got a call for 4 boys but for reasons that I will not share, we could only say yes to little guy. And then there was waiting. And more waiting because our agency couldn't find a home for 4 of the little guys, they came from a sibling group of 6. All 6. Boys. That would be headed for permanent custody. In my mind all the things lined up. I had prayed for an orphan. I had been learning about how to bond with a baby in the adoption sens...

ReplyDeleteAMAZING! I have a good friend who was FINALLY adopted at 13! I struggle with infertility and have always felt like God was using that as a means to lead me to foster care and adoption! I love your story and am so happy I found you through this hop! So many children need safe, warms homes, and foster parents who show them what love is all about!
ReplyDeleteI loved Alex's little video :) Katie, I loved hearing your heart. It stirred my heart and reminded me of some things that God is doing in my heart as well. I'll be praying for you and am excited to see what God does in and through your family as this journey continues.

ReplyDeleteWhat an important and awesome passion -- I'm smiling so big just thinking of the lives that will be blessed and loved on because of the stirring God did in your heart and your obedience to follow His lead.
ReplyDeleteI love that you're so passionate about foster care, it's definitely something my husband and I are considering!
ReplyDeleteThanks for leaving a sweet comment on my blog!
Thank you for sharing about this. Right before we got married, God put adoption on both mine and my husbands (or soon-to-be husband's) hearts. We also feel very strongly about adoption from the US only and I would love to be a part of the foster care system and adopt that way. Since we are still fairly newly married and in no financial situation for us to even have children of our own, we know this is not for us yet, but I am excited to follow your blog and start gathering wisdom and resources for the "someday". Thank you. I can tell your heart is so big and you love these children so much. I'm glad you didn't totally follow the prompt and I'm excited to have "met" you through this.
