Imagine a mother.
A 22 year old mother, not with just one toddler, but two.
Imagine that mother who is still contemplating if sleep will every come back to her.
Now imagine older moms who introduce her to coffee.
That was all it took. My sleep deprived body, these precious littles who needed me + the introduction of coffee.
Then I moved out of my small town and was introduced into the amazing-ness of the beloved Pumpkin Spice Latte.
I have tried for years to mimic the Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte, and have failed every time. It just wasn't even right. And I would be disappointed. This year, I promised myself I would not attempt to make a fake one, but I found THIS awesome recipe that is actually good.
Ingredients:
-1 cup pumpkin puree
-1 cup water
-1/2 cup sugar
-1 tsp vanilla extract
-1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
-1/2 tsp nutmeg
-1/4 tsp clove {I omitted the clove, not a big fan of it}
-1/4 tsp ginger
Combine all ingredients into a sauce pan, whisk till ingredients are all mixed. (low-medium heat) Cook for 10-15 minutes, stirring often. You will know it's ready when it thickens up. Let it cool and put it in a storing container.
If you decide {why wouldn't you?!!} make this, it's quite thick, but quite delicious.
I just add a tablespoon of the thick syprupy goodness and a little creamer.
And if you're wondering, yes, eventually I started getting normal sleep again...that is until I got pregnant with Addison.
I haaate coffee! People tell me it helps so much, and I tried it again. But I still can't get a taste for it. I stick with Dr. Pepper although it has no where near as much caffiene! Haha. I applaud you for having twins, FIRST! I couldn't imagine...do they run in your family?!
ReplyDeleteI hated coffee for the longest time. I thought it was the grossiest thing ever... then my husband got me addicted to Starbucks. OY! I wouldn't make it without it though! =)
