Getting down and playing.
Back before I had kids I was an all star babysitter and loved my job in the preschool near campus. I imagined I'd rock motherhood better than most.
You know those pre-kid thoughts of what you will or will not do.
When I did have kids I came to find out I have to be intentional about getting down and playing.
I have found the best way is find something you both love, for us, it's "flying"

(yes I do have a mad love for fuzzy socks)
We both have fun and end up giggling. With the older two we love playing trouble!
My encouragement to you is that if you find yourself struggling with getting down and playing, find just one thing you can both enjoy.
Other activities that we love are playing with blocks, doing puzzles, coloring, sidewalk chalk, looking at the cloud, reading, playing hide n seek and watching movies.
Good post! I always tell myself that making sure I have time to play with Jase when he gets older is going to be critical. I need to make sure I am doing something with him. Right now, it's just talking and little things here and there, and as he gets older it will grow. So important!
ReplyDeleteYes can be difficult but so important
DeleteAMEN! I'm glad I'm not the only one who has a hard time with this! I loved flying when I was a kid! =)
ReplyDeleteI honestly I didn't know I was the only one that struggled with this until a few months ago when another blogger talked about not being that type of mom.
DeleteI wrote something *so* similar for my post tomorrow! I've recently begun working at being more intentional with my time with my son. For us, the thing we love to do together is go to the park. It's truly been transformative for us to devote time almost daily
ReplyDeleteOops! I accidentally submitted. Picking up where I left off... It's been transformative to devote an hour a day to just time for the two of us. We're both so much happier!
ReplyDeleteOh it is fun getting outside and going to the park!
